Staff report
The State of Ohio will soon conduct its annual back-to-school shopping days on which consumers won’t pay taxes on certain items.
Products will be tax-free from midnight Friday, Aug. 2 through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019. This includes clothing that costs $75 or less, school supplies that are $20 or less and school instructional material that costs $20 or less.
Items used in trade or business are not tax-exempt on the holiday weekend, the State of Ohio says.
There is no limit to the quantity of each item purchased.
Clothing accessories and equipment, such as hair notions, jewelry, and handbags, are not counted as clothing and therefore are not tax-exempt.
Check out the State of Ohio’s FAQs page if you need more information about what items qualify for the tax exemption.
