ShaboomsIn 2011, Butler County lost one of its sons – SGT James Christopher Robinson, Jr. Jimmy was killed in Afghanistan while serving his country.

His life is memorialized by friends and family in Butler County through the nonprofit, SHABOOM’S.  Jimmy was a dedicated and selfless soldier who’s catchphrase SHABOOMS motivated his soldiers to fight on. It is the hope of Shabooms, to honor Jimmy’s courageous actions.

Shaboom’s mission is to award scholarships to qualified high school students to assist in obtaining the education they need to give them a better chance at gaining rewarding employment and give them more opportunities in life. This includes that if they so should choose to enlist in our country’s military they would do so with a love for our nation and for the freedom that so many have given their lives defending.

This week, Shaboom’s started to award its scholarship checks to the class of 2016. They have awarded scholarship checks to Corey Dean of Monroe High school, Lincoln Markle of Madison High school and Micah Senft of Middletown High school. The three scholarships combined amounts to $ 5,000 and there are more to come in the days ahead!  This year Shaboom plans to give $11,000 of scholarships to Butler County graduating seniors.  The total they have given in scholarships since 2011 is $38,500.
