On January 21, 2020, the City of Fairfield and surrounding communities lost a huge supporter, Ron D’Epifanio passed after a brief illness. He was 78 years old. He moved to Fairfield over 40 years ago and quickly became active in several businesses, coaching youth sports, the local republican party, and Fairfield politics. He served as Mayor and on City Council multiple times since 1995. He was an ordained minister and enjoyed performing marriage ceremonies for many in the tri-state. In 2013, he received the National Youth Football Coach of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Youth Football Association for his 50 years of service to youth football.
He is survived by his wife, Patty D’Epifanio, a daughter, two sons, six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his first wife, Kay.
On January 28, He will lie in state in the Fairfield City Council Chambers from 4:30 pm until 7:30 pm. At which time there will be a Masonic Funeral service conducted. The next day His funeral service is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Winton Rd Church of God. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
