Ralph Rogan “Pat” Carruthers

Ralph Rogan “Pat” Carruthers passed away June 10, 2018 in Fort Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio.  Pat was born May 19, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Thomas H. Carruthers III and Elizabeth J. Rogan of Glendale, Ohio.  He attended Ashville School, and Hun School of Princeton.  Pat joined the Marine Corps and was a proud Marine Gunnery Sergeant and served two tours of duty. One tour in the Korean War.  After his service he attended Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.  Pat went to work at Champion Paper and worked from the mill up to sales because he believed in starting from the ground up because he wanted to understand how everything worked.  While working at Champion, Pat met the “Love of His Life”, Donna Young and they were married in 1958.  Pat and Donna have one daughter, Sara Procter Carruthers.  Pat retired from Champion after 23 years and started the first and only tennis club in Hamilton, Ohio.  He enjoyed every one that walked in Net Set Tennis Club and especially loved his staff.  Pat was a stellar husband, father and grandfather.  He was blessed and overjoyed with the arrival of Sara’s twins, Elizabeth Procter Carruthers and his namesake, Ralph “Rogue” Rogan Carruthers II.  They were the greatest joy in his life making every day more interesting and fun.  Both Elizabeth and Rogue will miss their “Papa” so very much. Pat was a true philanthropist, providing both financial and active support to so many charities.  The Carruthers Family has contributed millions to Ft. Hamilton Hospital, The Carruthers Family Community Foundation Fine Arts Scholarship, Colonial Foundation (Community First) YMCA, Greater Hamilton Civic Theatre, Hamilton Police Department, Hamilton Community Foundation Development Fund, TvHamilton, American Heart Association, The Fine Arts Wing of Wilson Junior High School,  Hamilton High School Fine Arts and Theater Wing, Boys and Girls Club of Hamilton, The Christ Church of Glendale, as well as many others.  His greatest pleasure was helping others.  Pat enjoyed sailing, boating, history, geology, his cottage in Harbor Point Michigan and anything thing in the arts and television.   He was a member of Little Harbor Club, Anglers Club, NRA and he was on the executive board of the Butler County Republican Party for numerous years but his main interest was his family. Pat was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Donna Young Carruthers, his brother Thomas H. Carruthers IV, his sister, Liz Larson, his parents, his sister in law, Colleen Young Rowsey, brother in law, Clarence W. Rowsey, his niece, Reba Carruthers Lawrence and his nephew, John Lawrence.  He is survived by his daughter Sara, and grandchildren, Elizabeth and Rogue.  Other surviving relatives include, Susie Carruthers IV, Daniel C. Rehbun (Paula) III, Christian, and Racheal, Christian K. Rehbun (Dana), Tory, Keeler, Cooper,  Thomas H, Carruthers V (Katie) Tuck, Hilary, Thomas H. Carruthers VI (Tate),  Kieran , John L, Justy and David ,  Annie Carruthers , Rogan Lawrence Saal (Dunne), Trey, Emmett and Bay, John (Jack) Dennis Carruthers, ( Donna), Hunter, Meredith and Devon , Susan Rowsey Damm, Sara D Holstein, (Kevin) Adam and Luke , Sally Damm. He loved son in law, Dennis James Janson.  Sara and her children would like to especially thank the kind and gentle professionalism of the compassionate ICU nurses of Fort Hamilton Hospital.  Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at Christ Church Glendale, 965 Forrest Avenue, Glendale, Ohio, 45246, Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 1:30 P.M. with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery in Glendale. Friends are invited to a reception to begin at 4:00 p.m. at The Fitton Center, 101 S. Monument Avenue, Hamilton, Ohio 45011. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Ft.
