Middletown to host annual Ohio Challenge Balloon Festival

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio – Thousands will flock to Butler County on Friday and Saturday to mark the 17th annual Ohio Challenge Balloon Festival, held at Middletown’s Smith Park.

Nearly 25 hot air balloons will highlight this year’s event. Balloon rides will be offered to the public on Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. From 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday, a mass balloon launch will take place.  The festival is open 4pm to 10:30pm Friday, July 19th  and Saturday, July 20th. Walk-in admission is $5 per adult, 13 and up. 12 and under are free. Parking is $15 w/ free shuttle and admission for all in the car. Parking Shuttle from the Airport Entrance

Each night, skydivers will jump from planes at 8 p.m., followed by balloon glows from 9:15 to 9:45 p.m. At 10:15 p.m., fireworks will end the day with a bang.

Balloons aren’t all the festival has to offer. The festival will open with a Native American ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday. Amusement rides and an Indian village display will provide additional entertainment for guests. Food and craft vendors will be available, and a car show will take place Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m.

This event’s primary sponsors are the Middletown Visitors Bureau, the Middletown Community Foundation, the City Of Middletown, the Middletown Chamber of Commerce and Classic Country 105.9 FM WNKN.
