Liberty Center to host second annual Back to School Block Party
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio – People will flock to Liberty Square on Sunday for the second annual Back to School Block Party, hosted by the Cincinnati Children’s Liberty Advisory Committee. The event will run from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, August 4th and will occupy the park, the square and Sabin Hall at Liberty Center.
Children will be offered numerous services, provided by 26 local partners. Services offered will include children’s haircuts, dental services, vision screenings, health and nutrition information, mental health information, library cards, tutoring and stress management tools.
Entertainment is also expected to be an important part of this year’s event. MetroParks will be hosting a petting zoo at the event and Mother Teresa’s robotics team will hold a demonstration. Face painting and balloon art will entertain the children, along with arts and crafts provided by the Fitton Center. Live music will provide the soundtrack for the event, and a selfie station will allow attendees to take a snapshot of the event.
Cincinnati Children’s will be giving away 100 backpacks and five bike helmets. Kroger will distribute 75 goody bags, and other groups will hold raffles and giveaways.
With a crowd of over 500 attendees last year, the event’s organizers expect an even larger crowd this year. The event falls on Ohio’s tax-free weekend, which is aimed at making school shopping more affordable.
