“It’s a great day for the City of Hamilton and for Butler County.” – Mayor Patrick Moeller, having read the Proclamation sent from Ohio Senate President Larry Obhof and State Senator Bill Coley for Fort Hamilton’s Kettering Cancer Care Center expansion.
First-Class Treatment Center in Butler County
Ron Connovich, President of Fort Hamilton Hospital relayed “Cancer is the leading cause of death…with Butler County having a higher cancer rate than the rest of Ohio.” He continued, “There are 1800 new invasion diagnosis per year and 700 cancer deaths in Butler County. The leading types of cancers being lung, breast, prostate, colorectal, and bladder cancer. ” There is now a first-class treatment center that is close to home and located in Butler County.
About the Kettering Cancer Care at the Carruthers Center
The Carruthers Cancer Center includes 16 private and semi-private infusion bays to accommodate chemotherapy treatments and 10 clinical exam rooms designed to enhance care for cancer patients. A private chapel/prayer room located in the center is a deliberate part of the design. But the most remarkable part of the design is the use of full length – floor to ceiling- glass windows surrounding the entire center. The views from the Kettering Cancer Care at the Carruthers Centers are inviting and
refreshing. The Center’s design has patient care in mind. The design is uplifting and cheerful, giving hope and light to those who are in a battle. Kettering Cancer Care at the Carruthers Center will focus on body, mind, and spirit.
Sara Carruthers, speaking on behalf of her family, shared the personal impact cancer had on her family and the impact Kettering Cancer Care at the Carruthers Center will have, “The wonderful people at Fort Hamilton Hospital will treat the WHOLE person and they will be there for the family which is so important. You have to treat the entire family because they are dealing with the disease too.”
Fred Manshur, CEO of Kettering Health Network, was presented the Proclamation from State Senate President Larry Obhof and State Senator Bill Coley.
