The KylerStrong Foundation invites the community to support the “Junior Warriors Against DIPG” drag racing/fundraising event, which will be held on Saturday, August 24th at Edgewater Sports Park in Cleves, located just west of Cincinnati.
The event is the inspiration of 14-year-old Alyssa Eichelberger, who is a young Junior Drag Racer. Eichelberger wanted to plan and organize a junior drag racing event to benefit the KylerStrong Foundation in order to raise awareness about DIPG childhood cancer research in hopes that no child or family will have to go through what Kyler Bradley and his family went through.
Ten-year old Bradley of Fairfield Twp. battled a rare and aggressive form of childhood brain cancer known as DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma). He fought to overcome DIPG, but passed away in April of 2016.
The KylerStrong Foundation was founded in May of 2016, following the passing of Kyler, in hopes of finding a cure and raising awareness about the disease. The KylerStrong Foundation is comprised committed volunteers. Funds raised go directly to research and other related efforts.
The widespread KylerStrong movement has been supported by family, friends, neighbors and many others, who want to honor his memory and help to fight DIPG. Kyler was a hero and an inspiration. He received support from thousands, worldwide. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed four-wheeling, fishing, boating and archery.
The fundraiser will feature seven-year-old’s racing head to head at 60-miles an hour in their half-scale dragsters powered by modified lawn mower engines as well as 14-year-old racers going at the speed of 90 miles an hour – with all of the racers competing for a $1,000 prize. (Other cash prizes will also be awarded throughout the event.) As Kyler Bradley would say, “Left foot forward, go THAT direction!”
On Saturday, gates will open at 1 p.m. Junior time runs start at 2 p.m. with racing beginning at 4 p.m. Raffles, a silent auction, split the pot, special guests and more to benefit KylerStrong will be located under the overhead at the concession area.
Also, the regular bracket racing program will promise a full afternoon/evening of drag racing. Bracket time runs start at 4:30 p.m. with racing starting at 6 p.m.
Cost of admission at the gate is $15 for adults, children ages 6-12 is $5, and children under age 6 are free.
