Fort Hamilton hospital prepares to celebrate the past 90 years and move into the future of healthcare.
During the month of July, Fort Hamilton Hospital is celebrating its eighth year as part of the award-winning Kettering Health Network and preparing to celebrate 90 years of serving the Butler County community in 2019.
A lot has changed in the eight short years since Fort Hamilton joined the Kettering system. The outside of the hospital has received some much-needed attention, both to the grounds and to the building. All the buildings on campus have been painted to give them a more cohesive and modern look. The grounds have been beautified with parking lot banners, seasonal plantings, and decorations, including a beautiful display of Christmas lights for the annual Lights of Love program in December.
Another change to the landscape at Fort Hamilton was the new state-of-the-art Emergency Department that was brought to completion in 2014. Funded by generous donations from the Carruthers family, the community, and Fort Hamilton employees, the ED features a beautiful waiting room, a separate behavioral health unit, in-unit radiology, telemedicine for stroke patients, and other amenities for patients, visitors, and providers.
Continuing to change to meet the needs of patients
The hospital continues to grow and change to meet the needs of patients in the community. Projects that are underway include a new cancer center that will provide chemotherapy treatment and a renovated and upgraded neo-natal nursery in the Family Birthplace. New construction on Main Street will house primary and specialty care providers. Fort Hamilton Hospital has brought more than 40 new physicians to the Hamilton during the last eight years and is continuing to add physicians and specialties to that roster.
You will also see Fort Hamilton actively involved in community events such as Alive After 5, Hamilpalooza, Light Up Liberty, and more. An active partnership with the city, the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce, and the GMV YMCAs provide numerous opportunities for the hospital to fulfill its mission of “improving the quality of life for the people in the communities we serve.”
The hospital frequently hosts physician talks with question and answer sessions at the hospital or the Fitton Center to share pertinent information about different diseases and conditions. Those events also feature refreshments and a mini health fair. Fort Hamilton also hosts a Baby Fair for expectant parents every year and added a family Safety Fair last year was that was a huge hit with all ages. Fort Hamilton hosted an A to Zumba event at the East Butler County YMCA last winter and is planning a similar event for this fall.
It is an exciting time for Fort Hamilton as the hospital prepares to celebrate the past 90 years and move into the future of healthcare.
