Fort Hamilton Hospital – Highlighting the Future, Honoring the Past
Fort Hamilton Hospital is excited to be celebrating 90 years of service to the Butler County community in 2019. The hospital was founded in 1925 when the first meeting of The Butler County Welfare took place on January 1. In a short four years, Fort Hamilton was funded and built to meet the health care needs of a growing community.
The first patients were admitted to the hospital on May 1, 1929 and the hospital has continued to grow over the years, adding new services as more technology and treatment options become available. In 2010, Fort Hamilton Hospital became part of the Kettering Health Network, a Truven Top 15 Health System. Kettering’s mission “to improve the quality of life of the people in the communities we serve through health care and education” echoes the service that has been given to the community over the decades.
Fort Hamilton is continuing its legacy of growth and caring with continued support from the community. In 2019:
- A new Cancer Care Center will open on the third floor of the hospital’s Physicians Office Center. The center will allow patients to receive infusion and chemo therapy in a close, convenient location. Newly recruited physicians and staff are among the most respected and experienced in the area. The Carruther’s Cancer Care Center was modeled after the center at Kettering Medical Center and was designed based on input from a patient advisory board.
- A Special Care Nursery for babies who require medical care at birth will open in March. The nursery offers new parents more privacy, ease of care, and more bonding time with their new babies. Neonatologists from Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center staff the nursery to ensure the babies receive the very best care.
- The Hamilton Health Center on Main will open in April 2019 and will more primary care providers and specialty physicians to Hamilton.
More exciting announcements are in the future for Fort Hamilton Hospital in 2019. The hospital will be celebrating its 90 years of service at a community open house on Sunday, May 5 that honors the support of the community and highlights the future of health care.
