Your new favorite Middletown restaurant – Bourbons Craft Kitchen & Beer

Bourbons Craft Kitchen & Beer is sure to impress everyone. Quickly becoming known for their craft burgers and beer & bourbon list, they leave their guest eager for their next visit. Located on Verity Ave., beside the stream of chain restaurants, Bourbons stands out.

I started the meal with chips and delicious queso along with a Kentucky Cooler (a bourbon drink with freshly muddled blueberries and mint) while my guest enjoyed a craft beer recommended by the waiter.  The restaurant was cozy but very chic.

An impressive bar lined the whole back wall, full of every bourbon I could name and toppings and spirits to make any mixed drink you could think of. High top tables and strategically placed bench-backed tables make the most out of the small square footage. The esthetic of the restaurant included subway tile, unstained
wood, and wrought iron fixtures.

Our food came out quickly — within the first bite of my tongue and cheek named burger, the Bernie Mac, was quickly declared the best burger I had tasted in years.

The Bernie Mac is a delicious steak burger topped with sweet BBQ sauce, pepper jack cheese and finished off with a layer of white cheddar macaroni and cheese. Served with a basket of house-cut French fries and a sriracha mayo dip.

I traded a bite with my guest who ordered the Belgian Waffle burger with breaded chicken subbed for the steak burger patty at the recommendation of our waiter.  With a layer of pepper jack cheese and drizzled in maple syrup the salty and sweet taste was the perfect combination with a nice hoppy beer.  After tasting that burger I couldn’t decide who’s meal was better. We both devoured our meals in near silence without noticing anything but the delicious flavors.

Between the amazing food, great adult beverage selection (both craft and draft beers along with amazing mixed drinks) and superb service, Bourbon Kitchen has quickly moved to the short list of our favorite local joints. The price point for a meal with a drink is moderate, with most of the food selection ranging from $10-18 and drinks from $5-9 with some mid-week happy hour specials on drafts and apps.  This is the perfect place for after work drinks and appetizers, date night or even a great local lunch spot!  I will be returning (soon!), and saving room for a waffle-centric dessert too!
