March Events in Butler County

As many local districts in Butler County are finding; people are thirsty for new music new food and new life in the cities that they call home.  Renaissance is not only a time period in history but the literal definition of it in French translation is “Rebirth”.  As we near March and begin the turn to spring, let us celebrate these refreshing artists offering up inspiration from all parts of the BC.  Men, women, boys, and girls, from all generations, are at work in various forms of art.  Here is a list of things you can do to celebrate this March 2018. 


Fitton Center for Creative Arts

“Jazz & Cabaret” featuring Brad Myers and Michael Sharfe, Saturday, March 3rd from 7:30-9:30 PM – This midwestern Jazz arrangement is anything but ordinary.  Their music is mix of traditional and modern tunes.  They will perform from their critically acclaimed album “Prime Numbers”.  Enjoy these timely rhythms that make the mathematics behind Jazz look easy yet sound spectacular.


“Glass Block Mosaics”, Ages 13-Adult, $55.00 for members/$65.00 for non-members.  March 6th, 13th and 20th from 6-9 PM – Learn how to create a mosaic out of stained glass.  This Fitton Art Class class will allow you to learn how to cut and shape glass imagery.  Bring your own lights to incorporate a touch of your own luminescence into your stained-glass mosaic masterpiece!

            “Member Show- Call for Entries”, Multi-Generational show, price included with membership to the Fitton Center.  Submissions accepted March 15th – 17th Multimedia art exhibition for kids, adults, professional artists as well as family heirlooms.  Artwork will be displayed April 14th, 2018 from 5-7 PM, followed by a performance by the Butler Philharmonic at 7:30 PM


“Art & Wine” with Alphonse Mucho, Ages 21+, 35.00 members/45.00 non-members, March 15th – Celebrate the renewal of spring through Art Nouveau in this monthly workshop for adult artists.  The class provides hands-on painting with an in-depth look at the art history of the topic.  2 glasses of wine, snacks, and refreshments included.


“KY Myle” band playing live at WintersEdge, Free concert series, March 17th from 8-11 PM – Enjoy this energetic local act playing live from Carruther’s Ball Room at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts as a part of the WintersEdge Free Concert Series, alcohol will be available for purchase at the event.

            “Voiceover Acting 101”, Ages 16-adult, $90 for four lessons, March 14th-April 4th from 6-7:30 PM – Explore the art of voiceover work.  Class will detail students on how to make a demo, proper equipment usage, assistance in where to find a job doing voiceover, assistance with proper terminology and explanations of the different kinds of projects that are available to be a part of.
