Butler County Parks are a blessing. Some of our most beautiful parks have water, flowers and forests. Take some time and get back to nature in Butler County.
5591 Hankins Rd, Liberty Township, Butler, Ohio 45050
A nice, small park with a dirt trail following the Greggory Creek – the walking trail is short and easy. When the creek is full it creates a very soothing natural environment. The head of the trail is the Greggory family cabin, one of the founding families in Liberty Township. There is also a nice covered shelter for lunch. It is a Butler County MetroPark, so a parking pass is required.

Gilmore Park was one of the most interesting parks I found this year. It is not too far from the airport. It is a flood area. The park is submerged with trees poking out of the water, the cattail marsh. Bird are everywhere. The head of the trail is plastic decking that goes through the water, giving a great view of the water and wild life. Most of the water is blocked by honeysuckle as the trail moves on – it is an easy walk and a memorable place to visit. Gilmore Park has been designated a “Watchable Wildlife” by the Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources, and as an “Important Birding Area” by Audubon Ohio.

Governor Bebb MetroPark
1979 Bebb Park Lane, Okeana OH 45053
It’s a bit of a drive, but worth it. Governor Bebb was the 19th Governor of Ohio. This park has a Pioneer Village that has the cabin where the Governor was born. Walking around this village takes you back in time to a simpler day. The park also has several trails to explore the wooded area, many of the trails go into valleys.

There isn’t a walk better in Butler County than a stroll along Acton Lake in Hueston Woods State Park. There are many places to explore in this park, but the loop around the lake will take your breath away.

Rentschler Forest MetroPark
5701 Reigart Road, Fairfield Twp, OH 45011
Rentschler Park has a beautiful trail that follows along the Great Miami River. The paths take you through prairie land and forest. The Wetland loop was my favorite with a great view of the river.

Voice of America MetroPark
7850 VOA Park Dr., West Chester OH 45069
The Voice of America Park is a great addition to Butler County. The man-made lake has a loop all the way around it that gives a great view of the water and the surrounding grass lands. It can be windy, but is a good mile plus walk.

Woodsdale Regional Park

This is a short trail in the Butler County Parks system, but the forest views are stunning. If you need to come back to nature, this is a great park to visit.
