Years of Thanksgiving! How Middletown Spends Turkey Day!

Jeri Lewis- Community Volunteer and Contributor.

Six years ago, I realized it would be my first Thanksgiving without my three older boys. I felt a sense of sadness that quickly switched to wondering who else must feel this way on Thanksgiving. I was lonely.  I immediately jumped into action and invited everyone I could think of to my home to eat until our top button popped off. Now, 6 years later, the mission remains the same, however, it has grown so much larger than our first year of a dozen friends. If 2017 was any indication of growth, we are on track to serve over 500 meals!

Thanksgiving Day in Middletown Ohio 2018!

Our growth comes in partnerships with other organizations, businesses, and ministries. Many in Middletown Ohio will break bread with new friends and reacquaint with old friends over a Thanksgiving meal.  We want to make sure everyone in our community is full this Thanksgiving. ALL PEOPLE, no matter their station in life. It is how I imagine Heaven will be. Diverse in all meanings of the word diverse!

This year we will be serving over 20 Turkeys, 15 Hams, mashed potatoes and all the sides. Of course, LOTS of butter and stuffing! Pies, cakes, and many other desserts will be included. The best part of it all is our volunteers! We start the Monday of Thanksgiving week and don’t stop until the Saturday after Thanksgiving! Our tasks include cooking, serving, eating and delivering.
