3 Catholic festivals happening this month: What to expect
By Butler County Connect staff
The Ferris wheels are still turning as Catholic festivals continue around the Butler County area in August.
The St. John Family Festival in West Chester Twp., set for this weekend, is all about big: It has some of the largest raffle items ever seen at local church festivals. The “basket bonanza” booth is so popular, bidders are offered to have their names and numbers printed for them so they don’t have to write the information on individual tickets for bidding.
Like most of the area Catholic festivals, the St. John Family Festival features live music, gambling, games, rides and more. There’s something for all ages.
Also, this weekend is the St. Aloysius Summer Festival, located at 3350 Chapel Road in Shandon. It’s just one day — from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5. The event at St. Al’s features an all-you-can-eat chicken dinner.
The following weekend, the popular Sacred Heart festival will help round out the summertime for families as local school students begin to return to classrooms across the county. Located at the church at 400 Nilles Road in Fairfield, the Sacred Heart festival will have a fish fry on Friday, Aug. 10, Chik-Fil-A on Saturday, Aug. 11 and pulled pork on Sunday, Aug. 12.
Sacred Heart’s festival also features live music, games, rides, and gambling. Families are welcome.
