The calendar may say it’s still summertime, but it is never too soon for an Oktoberfest celebration. The 22nd Annual Seven Mile Oktoberfest is a two-day party that runs on from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 10 and Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Seven Mile Community Park. Admission will be $3 per person per evening, with children ages 12 and under free if they attend with their parents.

Each day’s festivities kick off with a happy hour to get the party started off right! Organizers will have a 40 x 80-foot festival tent set up for Oktoberfest visitors. It will be the perfect place to sit down, enjoy a drink, some classic party food and have a close-up view of the live bands playing each night.

Music

On Friday night, The Klaberheads take the stage with their rollicking brand of music that really gets the crowd in a celebratory mood. The Hamilton, Ohio-based band not only performs traditional German music such as polkas, but the group has included unusual instruments such as a steel drum to keep things interesting.

Music

Then, on Saturday night, local party band Thunderbay will entertain Oktoberfest guests for the night with their well-loved sets, including songs that cover at least four decades of rock, country, funk and the blues. The Fairfield, Ohio group is a Greater Cincinnati live performance powerhouse and should take the party to a new level.

Family fun

Seven Mile prides itself on hosting an Oktoberfest that the whole family can enjoy. Kids can enjoy throwing at a dunk tank sponsored by the Seven Mile Fire Department and playing carnival-style games in three tents designed just for them. And, yes, there will be prizes to win!

Ten different beers to choose from

Of course, this Oktoberfest has plenty of fun for the grownups, too. Card players can take their chances at the poker table and what kind of Oktoberfest would it be without the beer! Guests can choose from 10 different domestic and German beers on tap.

Commemorative Stein

Each year, the Seven Mile Oktoberfest creates a commemorative stein for the event. It’s the perfect glass to get a tall, cold beer and bring home a fun souvenir. This year’s mug honors the life of Howard Matre, a Hamilton, Ohio resident who passed away in 2015. Organizers remember Matre as someone who “showed unending support and love of our organization and this event from its inception.”

Food

Foodies will have a large menu to choose from at this year’s festival. If you’re hungry, vendors will be serving up warm German potato salad, Glier’s Goetta links, bratwurst, mettwurst, Servatii cream puffs and so much more. So, make sure the family is hungry!
